What to Expect with LTL Freight and Residential Liftgate Delivery

When you place an order for large equipment like ours, you’ll often see the shipping method listed as LTL Freight. But what exactly does that mean? Let’s break it down so you know what to expect when your order arrives.

What Is LTL Freight?

LTL stands for Less-Than-Truckload. This is a freight service used to ship large, heavy items that don’t fill an entire semi-truck. Your shipment travels with freight from other businesses on the same truck. This is a common and efficient method for shipping larger products like our attachments.

What to Expect at Delivery

When your order arrives, it will be delivered on a semi-truck. For commercial locations with loading docks or forklifts, this is a smooth process. But when delivering to a residence, things work a little differently.

Since most homes don’t have a loading dock or equipment to unload heavy items, we add liftgate service to every residential delivery. A liftgate is a hydraulic platform on the back of the truck that lowers your product safely to the ground.

Why Is This Service Necessary?

Liftgate service ensures your equipment arrives safely without you needing a forklift or extra help to unload it. It protects both your product and the delivery driver by making unloading safer and more controlled.

Why Does Freight Cost More Than Standard Shipping?

LTL Freight involves specialized equipment, scheduling with freight carriers, and handling larger, heavier shipments. Residential deliveries add another layer of service with liftgate use and extra coordination to bring your order directly to your driveway or business.

We do our best to make freight delivery as smooth and hassle-free as possible. If you ever have questions about your shipment, feel free to contact us—we’re here to help!
